Pods, Teams, Projects and More.
I have been at the Sacramento campus for NCCC since October 17th 2007. I was hoping to post sooner but I have been so busy.
For those of you unsure of what AmeriCorps NCCC is, I will explain it:
AmeriCorps NCCC is a government funded, residential, service organization. It allows males and females aged 18-24 to travel around the country while serving for 10 months.
The first day was crazy. After flying into Sacramento at around 1pm. We had in processing, where we stood in line for what felt like forever. We received important information, uniforms, room assignments and the like. After the first batch of in processing we met the leader and other members of our pod. The pod is a short term group we are placed in until we get our team assignments. For the most part, pods were divided alphabetically. My last name put me in Pod 37, silver unit. A unit is just a bunch of pods. Pods 31-37 were in the silver unit. For the first week we did a lot of paper work and did a couple of info sessions. Nothing interesting enough to share here. My pod went to downtown Sacramento and a place call Old Sacramento. Here are some pictures:
